Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent Join us for an Advent book and discussion group led by Barb Miller Wednesdays at 10:30: December 4, 11, 18, and January 8 In Light of the World, author, professor, and biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus: Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem, and the visit from the Magi. She makes connections between the Christian Gospels and the Old Testament, with fascinating insights into the role of women in first-century Jewish culture and the meaning of familiar Christmas symbols.

Friday, December 6, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. What is waiting to be born in you? A mini-retreat for Advent. We will share supper, worship, and Advent reflections, finishing with carols around the fireplace. And cookies! Contact Evelyn at evelyn.gratrix@comcast.net to register.

Carol Singing at Shared Breakfast Sunday, December 8, 7:15 a.m. The Church Choir will sing Christmas Carols this morning and invites anyone who wants to join them to come along! It’s a wonderful tradition, and will fill us with the holiday spirit! Meet at the Mercer Island Park & Ride at 7:15 a.m.

"Gloria!" Christmas Concert with CCMI Choir and Soloists Sunday, December 15, 3:00 p.m. We are looking for volunteers to bring cookies. There will be a bake sale for Panthera "Save the Tigers"

Hi everybody, The Atlantic Street Center's Holiday Toy Drive event will be held on Wednesday, December 18. Our collection box will be near the church entrance from Tuesday, November 26 until Monday, December 16. Please donate new, nonviolent, unwrapped toys, books, games and gift cards for children and teens. Money to buy toys can be donated by check to CCMI (write toys on the memo line) or on the CCMI website. Contact Terry Pepple with questions at terrypepple@msn.com and (206) 232-7043.

We received word of the death of Carole Taylor. A longtime member of our church. Carole was our first church secretary. She moved to Oregon two years ago to be near her family. But CCMI always held a special place in her heart. We thank God for her warmth, friendship, and love.

Have you unpacked holiday lights only to find that lights are out or the whole string has just stopped working? Those broken strings still have value. The metals can be recycled for new electronic parts. The glass can be reused as well! The Ridwell box will live under the table in the Social Outreach area. You can bring your nonworking Christmas lights. If you have questions, visit the website: https://www.ridwell.com/what-we-take/holiday-lights
