Alaska Suite A story of beauty, loss and hope Saturday November 2 7:30 p.m. The Alaska Suite features a five-piece chamber jazz ensemble performing the original music of Seattle pianist and composer Nelda Swiggett. But this is not just a concert. The performance engages the power of artistic expression — live music, spoken words, images and poetry — to connect audiences deeply and emotionally to the scientific realities of climate change. Ultimately a story of hope, the performance leaves audiences inspired to take action.

CLIMATE ACTION - WE NEED YOUR RECIPES As part of learning how diet choices influence climate change, we shared delicious meatless food at our 50th Anniversary Potluck. Jonathan Harrington, author of “The Climate Diet” has offered to design a brochure for our church with your recipes. We have several from the lunch but would like to include all of your favorites. If you have any meatless recipes we can include, please email them to: Gloria Kasonic: gkasonic@gmail.com SAVE GOD’S EARTH

MEMORIAL GARDEN

We have received $3500 altogether in memory of Jane Marich, and with Jim’s enthusiastic support, we will be spending the money on some landscaping work to make the Memorial Garden area more beautiful. The quote for the work is just over $7000, and we will take the difference from church funds. But we wanted to let you know in case anyone else would like to make a gift in Jane’s memory.

Weaving Baskets - Weaving Our Stories October 12 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Suggested donation is $50

Basket weaving is one of the oldest crafts known – but it is so much more than a cool craft! It is a wonderful way to connect the ordinary with the sacred as you notice the parallels with weaving and our life's journey. The act of weaving creates a space to share our stories and realize that we are connected - woven together in lots of different ways.Join Kaila Russell at Tolt Congregational Church in Carnation. No weaving experience is needed, just willing hands and heart. This workshop is an opportunity to learn more about yourself and experience your story in a profound way. You will also have a beautiful basket, woven by you, to remind you of this step on your journey.
