Events in Upcoming Weeks
Tuesdays beginning March 5
New book group!
We will read Shameless: A Sexual Reformation by Nadia Bolz-Weber, which was just published on January 29. Buy it from Island Books or Amazon. Roberta has several other books in mind, and she’s open to suggestions! The idea is to meet twice a month, one book per month, with each of us noting passages we’d like to discuss.
Wednesday, March 6
Ash Wednesday Service
We are invited to join the congregation at St. Monica Catholic Church for their 12:00 service, which will be followed by soup and toasted cheese. The service at CCMI will take place at 5:30.
Friday, March 8, 6:00—9:00 pm
A Lenten Dinner and Mini-Retreat
Give yourself permission to slow down during the season of Lent. As we gather together for dinner on March 8 we will begin a time of “unplugging” and begin to reflect on the effects of our “always on” lives.
Birthdays This Week
Feb 20 – Tim Pile
Building Use This Week
The sanctuary is in use Wednesday evening, Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Welcome to our New Office Manager
Haneen Abughali came to the US from Palestine where she worked for PITA, a consortium of tech companies. Prior to that, she was on the staff of Mercy Corps. She is a Human Rights and Social Media Activist, she likes to read political books and listen to Jazz music. She likes funny jokes and has a good sense of humor.
Thank you
Thanks to those who shoveled snow in our parking lot last week and checked to see that all was well in the church building! Our heroes.
Coat collection
Have you got any extra coats? Stan Harrison would love to take them to Shared Breakfast for distribution to people who are homeless this winter. Bring them to church and Stan will collect them.
