Spiritual Growth
Bible study is a central activity of CCMI. We feel that as a
church that takes the Bible seriously, but not literally, a
continuing dialogue with the text is vital to our faith. Group
Bible studies allow individuals to become interpreters of the
text, to relate the Bible to our daily lives, and to be enriched
by one another’s stories and perspectives.
In the same way, we find that group study of faith practice
strengthens and enriches our walk with God and one another.
Spiritual Formation Groups can include introductions to
spiritual disciplines, a focus on prayer, seeking simplicity,
and reading about and reflecting on our faith.
Activities
- Wednesday Night Bible Study discusses books chosen from the Bible and applies the lessons to participants’ personal lives. There is also time for personal sharing. Meetings are in the church Library, from 7:45 to 10:00 p.m. No summer hours.
- Thursday Night Bible Study is a contemplative group that studies a book from the Bible by asking questions of the reading, having prayerful writing time, and sharing participants’ thoughts on the questions. Meetings are in room U6, from 6:15 to 8:00 p.m.
- Building the Body of Christ meets to discuss a book or topic of interest. Topics or books are selected by the group. Meetings are on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Come as often as you are able. No summer hours.
- Men’s and Women’s Spiritual Formation Groups meet to support one another’s spiritual growth and renewal. Groups form as desired.
Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain supports others through prayer. Those with a prayer request receive special concentrated attention by our pray-ers. There are three chains, each with about five members plus a captain, and a prayer request can be sent through one or all chains.
When a request is received, each captain is notified and, in turn, passes the request on through his or her chain. The members pray for at least one week, or longer if the request is updated. Prayer chain members respect the confidentiality of those prayed for.
Call or e-mail the church office to submit a prayer request.
