Social Outreach

Social Outreach focuses on local, national, and global causes that involve the church in service to the larger community. We have ongoing relationships with Global Ministries (sponsoring children from Zimbabwe, Israel, Haiti, and Armenia), the Family and Adult Service Center, Nightwatch, FareStart, The Sophia Way, Eastside Domestic Violence Program, Oikocredit and Treehouse.

Sponsored Child: Youness Siam • Jerusalem, Israel

Youness SiamYouness lives with his parents in a small apartment after the family was displaced by the separation wall in Jerusalem from the village they lived in. He attends Rawdat El-Zuhur School where he recently graduated 6th grade. His father is a day laborer who does odd jobs. The mother is at home. He has two sisters and one brother. This school/center does an excellent job with the children corresponding with sponsors.

Activities

These are just a few of the other programs and projects we support.

  • Adopt-a-Highway: On the first Saturday of every month we get together to clean up the Exit 9 ramp off I-90.
  • The Sophia Way: We prepare and deliver monthly dinners to the First Congregational Church in Bellevue to support their homeless shelter.
  • Oikocredit: A UCC-supported international bank, Oikocredit loans money to the poorest of the poor in developing countries. We contribute money for their use.
  • Family and Adult Service Center: Our ongoing donations of clothing, toiletries, and toys are delivered to the Center regularly. We also purchase food, baby supplies, and other items the residents need.
