Visitor Welcome

Whether you plan to worship with us while traveling, or are seeking a new church home, know that you are always welcome at the Congregational Church of Mercer Island. We are a progressive Christian church and welcome all, no matter where you are on your faith journey. We want you to feel comfortable during your visit, and so it may help to know what to expect as a first-time visitor.

Our worship service begins at 10:30 am during the academic year and at 9:30 am during the summer months. Appropriate dress is whatever you are comfortable wearing. You will be greeted as you enter the front door. We invite you to sign our guest register in the narthex, and allow a greeter to give you a name tag. Hymnals and bulletins are available as you enter the sanctuary. Sit where you will feel most comfortable. For those with hearing difficulty, assisted listening devices are available from the usher.

Children are always welcome at CCMI! We have a wonderful nursery with an adult attendant located on the second floor for newborns through preschool-aged children. There are additional chairs in the balcony overlooking the sanctuary for parents wishing to remain close to the nursery during the worship service. There are children’s worship bulletins and pencils located on the table in the entry way. Children in grades K through 5 participate in the worship service up until they are invited forward for the Children’s message. They will then be released for Sunday school classes located downstairs. Children in Middle school and grade 9 attend Sunday school during the service in a classroom upstairs. High school students remain in the sanctuary for worship.

Our services are easy to follow. The order of worship is in the bulletin. We sing mostly traditional hymns from the hymnal, many of which may be familiar. We hope you will be enriched by our service, the sermon, and the worship music performed by our extraordinary choir. We serve Communion on the first Sunday of each month. You do not have to be a member of the United Church of Christ to partake. We invite everyone who is on the Christian path to receive communion.

Although general information is available on this site, please feel free to call or email the church office if you have questions. The number is 206-232-7800. Email: office@ucc-ccmi.org. We invite you to leave your mailing address, phone number, or email address so that we might contact you.
