Children and Youth Program Mission
CCMI seeks to teach, mentor, and support all aspects of our children’s and youth’s spiritual development. Additionally, we strive in our weekly youth program to foster relational development with peers and leaders, honesty with ourselves and others, fellowship, and to be informed on difficult life issues confronting today’s middle and high schoolers. We also have a great deal of laughter, games and fun! Youth in 6th through 12th grades are welcome to participate in our weekly meetings and seasonal activities. We love meeting new friends!
Note that youth group kids do not need to belong to CCMI to participate (nor do their parents). We welcome everybody!
Jessica Howard is our Coordinator of Children’s & Youth Ministry and runs the youth groups with the assistance of adult volunteers.
Comics for a Cause
One
of our members, Timothy Malcham, has launched a
website
www.savedinloves.com
where he offers comic books about unlikely heroes battling some
of the big causes of sadness in our world, such as child
soldiers and hunger. Forty percent of the profits from each
comic book sold will go to benefit the cause illuminated in each
of the books. Check out the website for these and other
wonderful works by Timothy.
Activities
- Sunday School for Children K-8th grade: 10:30 a.m.—Regular congregation volunteers (many with a teaching background) teach children the main themes and tenets of Christianity and Biblical stories. These lessons all include a short project or craft and a short, age-appropriate lesson.
- Elementary School Youth Group: For kids in 3rd to 5th grade and meets from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Wed and is led by Jessica. Each week, they discuss some topics, make a craft, have a snack, and have fun together. No reservations necessary.
- Middle School Youth Group: Wednesdays from 6:30–8:30 p.m.—Youth have a chance to hang out and unwind together. We provide dinner and games and short discussions on topical issues. Seasonal activities and events are planned as well as opportunities for community outreach.
- High School Youth Group: Sundays from 6:00–8:00 p.m.—Youth have a chance to hang out and unwind together. We provide dinner and games and short discussions on topical issues. Seasonal activities and events are planned as well as opportunities for community outreach.
